Joli was a member of “Maccabi Hatzair” in Pozsony (Bratislava). After the deportation of Jews in March 1942, she fled to Hungary. Thanks to her command of Hungarian, Joli engaged in helping the refugees arriving to Hungary from Slovakia. She obtained suitable documents and found accommodation for them. After the German invasion of Hungary on 19.3.1944, Joli joined the underground activities. She obtained authentic documents from the Population Registry offices. She escorted groups within the framework of the tiyul to the Romanian border. After 15.10.1944, when the fascist Arrow Cross Party rose to power, she engaged in looking for Jewish children and taking them to children’s houses which were under the protection of the International Red Cross. Joli herself was appointed to the staff of carers in those children’s houses. After the war she made aliya. Joli resided in Nahariya.
